Meetup

YANASISTERS was designed as a way for women to engage in transparent discussions about life, love, and everything in between; while making new friends and engaging in different activities. Since 2013, this group has been touching the lives of women through retreats, an online community, and of course, our local meetups.

The meeutps started in Atlanta, and we are now excited to expand to FIVE NEW CITIES!!! Join a meetup group near you today to connect with sisters in your area. ALL WOMEN are welcome into the sisterhood, as long as you come with an open mind and heart.

Don't see your city listed? Contact imani@yanasisters.com to express interest in starting a group in your area. And don't forget meetups aren't the only way to connect!!! Through this site you can gain access to daily inspiration, the online community, virtual and in person (domestic and international) retreats, and YANASISTERS products!

DARLEENE PATRICE COLE, Big sister of Chattanooga TN Meetup

A native of Chattanooga, TN, Darleene Cole is an advocate of womankind; supporting and encouraging women to embrace their journeys and celebrating feminine intellect which brings life, health and wholeness to the female soul.  She is affectionately known as Lady D, the first lady of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church “The City of Faith.” But beyond her call to ministry, she is a writer, a mentor and an inspiration, distinguished by her heart for women, respected for her wisdom, and recognized by her loving disposition. She is devoted to pouring into women of all beliefs and backgrounds, believing that women have a responsibility to support, encourage, and uplift each other. Darleene serves alongside her husband to ensure that the vision of the ministry and his God-given assignment is carried out, and she has created a path for herself in social media with her inspirational brand AI aspireIIinspire. As a wife and mother of five, Darleene is an inspiration and example to women who are balancing responsibilities both inside and outside the home.  And as a Big Sister for YANA, she is excited to bring ladies together to have lively, spirited conversation about life issues, current events, and other topics that concern or affect women.

FELICIA LEWIS, Big Sis of Houston Meetup.

When asked why she is excited to co-lead the Houston group, Felicia said “this is an opportunity of a lifetime because I know where I started, and according to statistics, I should not be here. Others invested in me and this is my opportunity to pay it forward and to continue to grow.”  The 45 year-old native Houstonian has been married for 16 years and has two kids. She is a registered nurse and trainer whose hobbies include photography, beading, writing, and scrapbooking.  She is also very passionate about helping others, and looks forward to meeting other sisters in Houston and beyond.  To join the Houston meetup, please go to www.meetup.com/houstonyanasisters.

FATIMHA LOVE and YESSENNIA AROCHO, Big Sisters of Central New Jersey Meetup

Sisterhood comes easy to “besties” Fatimha Love and Yessennia Arocho. The dynamic duo has been joined at the hip for many years, and have supported each other through many of life’s ups and downs. That’s why they were excited to see that same support and energy in the YANA sisterhood, and why they are excited to bring it to the women in Central New Jersey.

Inspired by her journey of childhood abuse and survival, Fatimha is sincerely passionate about people’s abilities to transition, transform, and transcend. As founder of T3gold Communications LLC,and as the “Motivational Diva,” Fatimha pushes others to press past the pain and never give up – to overcome obstacles and see beyond barriers to recognize their unlimited potential. A gratuate of the University of Maryland, University College (where she received a Master’s of Science in marketing), Fatimha serves as chair of the Human Resources certification program at Union County college and as an adjunct instructor, with future plans of completed her doctoral studies. . . . Yessennia (also known as Yesse) is most known for her energetic personality, caring heart, willingness to help those in need, and compassion for all people.  She holds a Master in Divinity in Leadership and Congregational Development & Master of Professional Studies in Pastoral Care from Alliance Theological Seminary.  As a Chaplain and Spiritual Counselor, she understands the benefit of a safe environment where women can positively deposit, encourage, and empower each other. She also is committed to inspiring women to pursue their inner beauty, and lives by the mantra “I am greater than what you see.” Professionally, she is an advocate of higher education, serving as a Financial Aid Administrator. Personally, she is a devoted mother of two.

KUAN-YIN THERESE, Big Sis of New York Meetup.

KUAN-YIN THERESE, Big Sis of New York Meetup.

When asked to serve as co-organizer of the New York Meetup, Kuan-Yin’s response was an enthusiastic YES! Although she has held many prominent positions in the legal and financial fields, and has served her country in the U.S. Army (and now is a disabled VET); Kuan-Yin says nothing gives her as much pleasure as helping other women and girls see their potential. She is excited to stand together with other YANASISTERS and through shared experiences tell others that they are not alone.  To join the New York meetup, please go to www.meetup.com/nyyanasisters.

IMANI MONICA MCCULLOUGH, Big Sis of Washington DC Meetup

YANASISTERS founder Imani Monica McCullough launched the DC meetup in December 2016, without a local lead identified. Why? For the same reason that she started YS -- because she saw a need and stepped out on faith to fill it. And, with belief that in time, the right local lead will appear. Imani looks forward to sharing the same energy and enthusiasm with the ladies in DC, as in the Atlanta group that is now over 4,000 strong!
